Whether you care about the environment, or about your fellow man, there are some things that you should just never do, no matter what, ever! Now I know I am preaching to the choir here, but it is time for me to have a rant – these things drive me crazy, and i bet they drive you crazy too! Here are 5 things I would like everyone to stop doing, immediately.
- Throwing rubbish out of your car.
Just like, why? We all have to look at the side of the road and see the endless takeaway packets that are strewn as far as the eye can see. No one wants to look at it, but a day doesn’t often go by without me seeing this happen. It’s bad for the environment, it’s bad for the look of the region, and it’s bad for the people who have to look at it every day.
- Throwing your cigarette butt out of the car window
I know, are you sensing a theme? Where I live, we are in a massive drought, where there are fires burning all across the country, and yet people keep throwing burning cigarettes into the grass on the side of the road. According to the New South Wales Fire department, many bush fires are actually caused by cigarette butts, particularly in dry conditions. Please, for the sake of people’s homes, and people’s lives, stop this, right now. Please, if you need to smoke, just put it in the ashtray till you get home!
- Trying to counteract someones good
I see this one a lot. Sometimes it’s with vegans, environmentalists, or any other good cause, people will try to, or threaten to eat more meat, use more plastic, or take more than they need, simply to get a rise out of someone. Some of them mean it, some of them think they are being funny, but whatever the reason, take a step back and think about what you are doing. Not what you are doing to the environment, or to the cause, but what you are doing to the person you are talking to. DOes anyone really want to be that negative?
