Social Media reset in 2019

At this time of year, there are a lot of people taking a break from social media. Whether it is for a challenge, a break, or simply to get away from the negativity that can surround social media – it can be an effective tool for personal growth.

But, we all know that this isn’t possible for everyone – nor does everyone want to. But even so, it is important to take stock on our social media at the start of each year and make sure it is still working for us.

We want to make sure that we are still following people that make us happy. We want to remove anyone from our feed that makes us doubt ourselves, affects our self-esteem or makes us question our choices in a negative way. It doesn’t matter who they are, if they don’t make you feel your best, they shouldn’t be in your feed.

We also want to make sure that our social media feed aligns with our values and helps us with our new goals. For me, it is making sure I do not follow any brands, even ones I love because it makes me want to purchase things that I don’t actually need. That includes Zero Waste brands – because sometimes I have trouble remembering that I don’t need every Zero Waste gadget on the market.

Finally, we want things in our feed that make us happy. That might mean things that make us smile, things that are educational, or things that inspire us. Or it might be pictures of little puppies or some sweet kittens. Whatever it is for you, make sure you fill your feed with joy.

Just remember that social media is a useful tool, and you should use it to your advantage. Don’t let it rule you!

Happy scrolling!
